“If you think about it, the very first vacation anyone ever takes is in a book. You can go hundreds of miles, go across the world, visit distant galaxies from the comfort of your living room couch. I can remember the best afternoons, night and into some mornings buried in a book. I want to bring that experience to everyone. Give you a glimpse of the world I have created in my head!”

When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?

It's hard to say actually. I've been writing since I was in high school, writing poetry like any other angsty teenager and it began to evolve into short stories and plays. But I really began writing novel-sized stories right about I took the bar exam. Stressed out and looking for an escape, my writing was my happy place. It's a been a journey ever since.

What is your work schedule like when you're writing?

I'm a lawyer by day and a writer by night. So needless to say, sleep can be an issue. But I love my stories and I love my characters. You spend time with the ones that you love.

And I love my husband too (he's standing behind me)

Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

When I began writing this book, I was researched obsessed. The original idea came from anime (avid fan) and I mixed a bit of Caribbean folklore. To make sure that I was painting a clear picture and staying true, I researched the hell out of everything from the names, to using Greek and Arabic to create new names...let's just say Google is the best invention known to man next to fire. And the internet.

What do you think makes a good story?

A story is good when you cannot think of anything else but to get to the end. That the plot, the characters, the action has been so riveting and exhilarating that you can't put it down. That you easily lose hours of your day within a blink and not realize it. That you've ignore your hunger because you just wanna read.

That is a good story.

Hope I created one for you!
