About K. T.

The Writer

K.T. Conte has worlds in her head, and she intends to get every one of them out. She writes fantasy and literary fiction rooted in the experience of Black women who are chosen, called, and complicated — characters she needed to see as a kid and didn't. Her only real limitation is time.

A first-generation Haitian-American, first daughter, and oldest child, she has spent a lifetime straddling worlds. That tension is not incidental to her work — it is the engine of it. You see it in Katya Stevens, caught between the living and the dead. You will see it in every character she writes.

The Person

K.T. holds a B.A. in English from Boston College and a law degree from Suffolk University Law School. She is a licensed and practicing attorney, but books have always come first — since age two, when she first fell in love with the written word. She shares her Massachusetts home with her husband Everett, her daughter Ella, her son Benny, and the occasional specter in the closet.

“If you think about it, the very first vacation anyone ever takes is in a book. You can go hundreds of miles, go across the world, visit distant galaxies from the comfort of your living room couch. I want to bring that experience to everyone — give you a glimpse of the world I have created in my head.”
